BREAKING NEWS : SM, PNP: POLICE MEMO ON IMPENDING ABU SAYYAF ATTACK IS A HOAX!
The Philippine National Police and the SM Supermalls management on Sunday said that a supposed police memo warning of an impending Abu Sayyaf Group attack is a hoax.
The police memo supposedly signed by Senior Superintendent Vicente Danao Jr. warns SM malls' security team of the Abu Sayyaf Group's P5-million demand "or elase they're going to bomb the mall."

"The information being re-circulated has been verified to be a hoax thru a joint investigation of our company and the local PNP in several areas. Moreover, the said information did not come from any SM Officer," SM Supermalls said.
"We continue to stay alert and committed to the security and well-being of customers, tenants and employees at all times," it added.
The police's regional office in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) also denied it issued the memorandum.
"The Police Regional Office- Cordillera advises the public not to be alarmed by the circulating messages in the social media regarding Abu Sayaf Threat at SM," the CAR police said in a statement posted on its Facebook account.
"PROCOR police together with the Officers of SM conducted a joint investigation and it was confirmed that this message is a hoax. The information did not come from any SM Officer," it said.
The police office, meanwhile, told the public to "remain vigilant at all times."
